CRACKING

branch ORGANIC CHEMISTRY

Coming from REACTIONS OF ALKANES
=What is Cracking?= Usually any natural hydrocarbons have long carbon chains. Cracking is an industrial process. In a large chamber, long-chain alkanes are heated to high temperatures and/or are passed over a zeolite catalyst. Long hydrocarbons (alkanes) are broken into smaller pieces, and these products are mixtures of different sizes, and some products are alkenes.
