PRESSURE DUE TO A FLUID

branch MECHANICS (MOTION)

Coming from PRESSURE
Pressure on an object is defined as the normal force per unit area. Pressure is a scalar. $$P = \frac{F}{A}$$ S.I. Unit: Pa or Nm^-2^ =Pressure due to a liquid= Pressure can be transferred by an incompressible fluid (brake fluid, water) [image:https://i.imgur.com/NiLw6L9.gif] Why doesn’t the pressure due to the air above you crush you? It acts all around you with the same force and out bodies are designed to react against it. Fish’s bodies remain intact with the help of water pressure. Whales cannot survive on land as they will be crushed by their own weight.
