Leading to ELECTROMAGENTISM
==Magnetism== The magnetic force has been known about for longer but is harder to understand and quantify than the electric force. The Greeks discovered an iron ore called lodestone which, when hung from a thread would always come to rest pointing in the same direction. This was the basis for the compass. This suggests that the points of the compass are seeking something they are attracted too. So we note that there is a region around a source of magnetism where a magnetic object will experience a force. We try to construct a field theory out of this observation. The compass itself has this characteristic. [image:http://i.imgur.com/hlJtefQ.png]
