==The Impact of Inaccuracies & Bias== Inaccurate and biased features can have a significant impact on the reader. They misrepresent the truth and can mislead the reader into false beliefs. ===The decision making process=== A person’s decision is usually based on: • A rational balance of perceived risks and benefits • Emotions (e.g. fear) • The influence of others (the decisions of our peers or the majority) Inaccuracies and bias can give the reader a misrepresentation of benefits and risk, generate an emotional response such as fear and convince the reader that a decision or belief is the social norm. These factors can ultimately influence the readers beliefs and decisions. NCEA Level 2 Biology students will be asked to '''explain''' why or how at least '''two biological features''' could impact the reader and the public in general (for each of the three articles they are presented with). They will also need to '''discuss''' the '''overall impact''' of each article, evaluating how the balance of accurate and inaccurate features and any bias may impact the reader and the public in general. This should include immediate and longer term consequences.
