=Adenosine triphosphate (ATP)= [image:http://i.imgur.com/WFZcd4P.png?1] '''Adenosine triphosphate (ATP)''' is a small energy carrier molecule that can be used by all the different cell organelles and is required in virtually every cellular process. ATP carries this energy in a chemical bond between the second and third phosphate. When ATP is used in cellular process (by enzymes), this bond is broken releasing the energy stored in the bond. The resulting products, adensoine diphosphate (ADP) and a phosphate ion can be recycled / recharged through the process of respiration which converts them back to their high energy form (ATP).
